What do you need to Hear?

# 11 - Date: 10 /20 /2020

What can I say? Well I have been stumbling over a little writers block.

What do you need to Hear?

Yes that is an invite for suggestions. tlcmomtclair.org/contact

How about when the smoke alarm is going off: “There is no fire, dinner is ready.”

Seriously let me start with some thoughts from some recent sermons I’ve shared recently and maybe something will come.

‘Come to the table.’ God’s invitation to an eternal seat at the heavenly feast. We are granted this seat when we hear God’s declaration ‘I AM the LORD’ and allow it to lead us in our daily lives. What do you need to Hear? These two statements from God bring me hope and security in these crazy times. I pray they do for you as well….

When we live in the invitation and proclamation that Jesus is Lord what can we say to those who do not know of this hope? What can we say to those who’s hope has diminished?

Hit the road. Wait! Let me explain. I should have said to tell them to hit the Roman Road. May be you have heard of it. If you have spent anytime around me I am sure you have. Not sure of its origin but widely used as an evangelism tool, an elevator witness and an outline of Christian doctrine. The Roman Road is like a journey of salvation.

The Roman Road: verses from Paul’s letter to the Romans. ESV & GNT

What can we say?

3:23 - Why do we need a savior?

ESV - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

GNT - everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence.

6:23 – The cost and the gift.

ESV - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

GNT - For sin pays its wage—death; but God's free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

10:9-10 – The result.

ESV - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

GNT - If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved.

We can say there is hope, provided through Jesus. Salvation is the invitation to come to the table with the LORD of heaven and earth. John 3:16 is also good thing to share since it is god’s love that drives his grace and mercy

Oh, on another note, I know one thing you’d like to hear. I have had an epiphany. The answer to all the politically system problems and it’s a simple fix. Anyone desiring to run for public office would need to receive a Pinocchio vaccine.

Now if only I could develop a Pinocchio vaccine.

What do you need to hear? The truth would be something to hear.
